 Goshen Animal League began as an idea...
Why not form a group to address animal issues large and small? Why not invite anyone who is concerned about animal welfare to join? Why not ask the community that built the animal shelter to once again open its hearts to those animals still in need, for whom a shelter may not be appropriate or available? Why not involve municipal leaders in our efforts instead of simply asking for a handout? Why not be involved in the legislation process regarding animal protection statutes, at local, state, and federal levels, and the subsequent enforcement of anti-cruelty and animal welfare statutes? Why not implement a program for senior citizens to enjoy the emotional, recreational, and physical benefits of companion animals as well as a backup program for those times when the senior needs assistance with the animal's care? Why not involve the educational system at all levels in teaching the upcoming generation of animal owners proper animal care? We have lots of questions. They led to the idea...an animal welfare league. Now how do we do it? Start with a charitable organization, recruit members and volunteers, then... We start with one project and when that is up and running we go to the next. Come join us... volunteer as much as you can. Everyone has something valuable to contribute.
